Museu da Casa Brasileira honors musician Guilherme Ribeiro

Born in Santos (SP), Guilherme Ribeiro holds a master’s degree in Musical Performance (UFMG) and a bachelor’s degree in Popular Music from UNICAMP. Throughout his career, he has been working as a pianist, accordionist, composer and arranger alongside other great musicians such as Paulo Moura, Raul de Souza, Maurício Einhorn, Gabriel Grossi, Jamil Maluf/OER, Isaac Karabtchevsky/OSESP, Fabiana Cozza, Dominguinhos , João Donato, Mariana Aydar, Céu, Luiz Tatit, O Teatro Mágico, Zizi Possi, Virgínia Rosa and Titãs.

The artist has also performed on the stages of major international festivals such as Montreal Jazz Festival (Canada), North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands), JVC Jazz Festival (France), Sfinks (Belgium), Coachella (USA), National Arts Festival Makhanda and South Africa Association for Jazz Education (South Africa).

In Guilherme’s discography, there are the albums “Calmaria” (2010), “Que se desiring” (2012), “A deep surface” (2013), “Tempo” (2015), “Facing South” (2019), and “NOUU!” (2019). In the area of ​​music education, he teaches: piano, accordion, counterpoint and band practice at Faculdade Souza Lima and EMESP Tom Jobim, in São Paulo.

Since 2012, he has also taught accordion and Brazilian music at Arcevia Jazz Feast, in Italy. And in 2020, through a Fulbright scholarship, he served as a visiting professor at the Jacobs School of Music, at Indiana University (USA). He is currently the artistic director of Orquestra Anelo, a jazz big band from Instituto Anelo, a social project located in the city of Campinas (SP), acting as conductor and arranger.
