CARLINHOS ANTUNES PROFILE | MUSIC IN THE MCB
Musician graduated from the São Caetano Arts Foundation and historian graduated from PUC-SP, Carlinhos Antunes likes to research sounds from different parts of Brazil and the world. And that’s how – in his 41 years of career – he ended up going to more than 40 countries, always acting as a soloist or in a group.
Carlinhos carries 25 works published among CDs, DVDs, books and documentaries. And the boy who – at the age of seven – found a path to music in bottles tuned with water inside the backyard, today also plays guitar, viola, triple, charango, cuatro, kora n’goni, saz, varied percussion , having already worked with equally great names in national and international music such as Tom Zé, Adoniram Barbosa, Jair Rodrigues, Oswaldinho do Acordeom, Isabel and Tita Parra (Chile), Pascal Lefeuvre (France), Tenores de Bitti (Italy) and many others .
The artist does regular tours in Latin America, Europe and Africa, but he did not always act only with music. Carlinhos’ history with art and culture goes through the positions of Secretary of Culture of the Municipality of Diadema (82); coordinator of the Adoniram Barbosa Project (96/97); cultural advisor to the Campinas Metalworkers Union (87/89); creator and artistic director of the projects: Tersarau, Encontro é Tempo, Sanfonia da Metrópole, Festa Lorca, Latinidades, Orquestra Mediterranêa and São Paulo dos Peoples; director of MUSICAMP (Assoc.
