ORQUESTRA DE CÂMARA DA ECA/USP

The Museu da Casa Brasileira, institution managed by the Padre Anchieta Foundation, receives on March 26, Sunday, from 11 am, the ECA/USP Chamber Orchestra (OCAM) for a special concert conducted by maestro André Bachur. The presentation features works by the Finnish-German composer Ingeborg von Bronsart and the German composer Ludwig van Beethoven.

The concert at the Museum also receives as soloist Estevão Medeiros Gomes, 1st place in the II Gilberto Tinetti Piano Competition, a partnership between OCAM and the USP Piano Laboratory and the ECA/USP Music Department. The pianist will perform the work F. Mendelssohn – Piano Concerto No.1, Op.25.

About the ECA/USP Chamber Orchestra

The ECA/USP Chamber Orchestra (OCAM) is one of the main artistic organizations of the University of São Paulo, a reference in terms of professional orchestras in the country, characterized by its remarkable quality of musical performance, the scope of its programming and the bold conception with which he develops his artistic proposal. Created in 1995 by Maestro Olivier Toni, it is made up of students from the Department of Music at USP and university extension courses. It has been directed by Maestro Gil Jardim since 2001. Performing in prestigious theaters and festivals during its seasons, OCAM always has renowned guests such as Leo Brouwer (Cuba), Tim Fain (USA), Evgenia Popova (Bulgaria), Duo Assad (Brazil/USA), Lenine and Gilberto Gil, among others. He has released two CDs: “Sonssobretons – Musical Creations on Visual Ideas” (Tratore/ 2019), with works by contemporary Brazilian composers such as Alexandre Lunsqui and Valéria Bonafé and “Segredos de Vera Cruz – Brazilian Popular Music for Harmonica and Orchestra” (Tratore/ 2019), with harmonica player Gianluca Littera. OCAM has been sponsored by the Santander Universities Project since 2001.

About Estevão Medeiros Gomes

Pianist Estevão Medeiros Gomes was born in Vitória, Brazil. He started his piano studies at the age of 9 in the class of prof. Tiago Vazoller at the Gabriel Camargo School of Music. Currently, aged 14, he is a student of prof. Janne Gonçalves and already laureate in more than thirty national and international awards, in the following countries: USA, Greece, Portugal, Indonesia, Colombia, Spain, Russia, Argentina, England and United Arab Emirates.

He participated in masterclasses with Linda Bustani, Vlada Vassilieva, Maria Tereza Madeira, Sonia Rubinsky, Cristian Budu, Lúcia Barrenechea, Mauricy Martin, Diego Caetano, Bernardo Santos, Cesar Birschener, Eduardo Monteiro, Aleyson Scopel among others.

He took part in several recitals as a soloist, with highlights for the Mendelssohn Concert with the Espírito Santo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro Helder Trefzer, and the recital “Jovens Pianistas Capixabas” where he played the complete lines of Tchaikovsky’s Stations.

He recently played in the city of Buenos Aires at the WPTA Argentina Contest Winners’ Recital. He has been hailed by specialized critics as one of the promising young piano artists in Brazil.
