MUSIC ON MCB | CHORANDO AS PITANGAS
The show will feature the special participation of violinist Ricardo Herz
The Museu da Casa Brasileira, an institution of the Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy of the State of São Paulo, managed by Fundação Padre Anchieta (FPA), holds a new presentation of the project ‘Music at MCB’ on February 13, Sunday, at 11 am, with the show of the São Paulo choro group Chorando as Pitangas. On the occasion, the CD “Terceira Dose” will be released and the presentation will feature the special participation of the violinist, Ricardo Herz. The ticket costs R$ 20.00 (half-price R$ 10.00) and can be purchased in advance on the Museum’s website.
With more than 20 years on the road, this is the first album entirely authorial by the group, which has already released two CDs, “Chorando as Pitangas” (Lua Music, 2005) and “Um Passeio na Benedito Calixto” (Lua Music, 2015). The third album, financed through the incentive program of the government of the State of São Paulo – ProAC, features 10 unpublished compositions and the special participation of three very important names in the Brazilian music scene: Ricardo Herz – virtuoso violinist -, Chico Pinheiro – a guitarist of great prominence in North American jazz -, and the group Barbatuques – an international reference in body percussion.
The album proposes a dialogue with different musical lineages from the group’s usual ones, enabling new sounds and musical experiences. Ricardo Herz brought his virtuosity and charisma to two tracks: “Pro Penezzi”, by Milton Mori, the group’s mandolinist, and “Pitanga no Samba”, a theme that Herz composed exclusively for the CD.
About the CD
