Deep Brazil takes place this Sunday (3/7), at 11 am, and features works by Villa-Lobos, Mario de Andrade, Tom Jobim, among others.
Held by the Museu da Casa Brasileira, an institution managed by Fundação Padre Anchieta, the Música no MCB project will present this Sunday (3/7), at 11 am, the show ‘Brasil Profundo’. With Paulo Serau on viola and Luciano Ruas on piano, the concert also has special participation of singers Carla Casarim and Guilherme Kafé.
Created in celebration of the centenary of the 1922 Modern Art Week, the presentation proposes an aesthetic approach to our songbook that breaks free from the shackles of obviousness, that escapes the commonplace and travels in modernist thought, creating intersections between the erudite and the popular. Works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Mario de Andrade, Waldemar Henrique, Luiz Gonzaga, Tom Jobim, among others will be presented.
About the Modern Art Week of 1922
The Modern Art Week of 1922 was a movement that marked the rupture of traditional aesthetic standards, seeking a national, original and analytical artistic identity that spoke to its time – a world that was relearning human relations modified by the Industrial Revolution -, presenting the cultural diversity of the vast Brazilian territory, also exposing its social issues.
