MCB RECOMMENDS: DANI MATTOS AND THE CITY CHRONICLES

São Paulo’s birthday took place in January, but the gift that all Brazilians received from this celebration is timeless. “Cronistas da Cidade” is a digital album by Dani Mattos and Toque de Bambas released on the last anniversary of the city, January 25, 2021, by tratore.ffm.to and is now available to be heard by the main audio streaming platforms as Spotify and Deezer.
The group’s work was carried out with the encouragement of the ProAC ICMS law of São Paulo – an initiative of the Government of the State of São Paulo for the Cultural Action Program of the Secretariat of Culture – and unites prose and samba in verses that honor great composers from São Paulo and : Adoniran Barbosa, Paulo Vanzolini and Germano Mathias.
The idea of the album was born as an internet adaptation, post-pandemic, of the show Cronistas da Cidade, which always brought to the public samba circles with poems by Vanzolini and comic dialogues created by Adoniran and Osvaldo Moles for the typical characters of radio soap operas .
The Cronistas da Cidade project was preceded by a homonymous EP released by the 7melodica label in 2019 and still has videos that can be viewed on Youtube and make up this multimedia achievement.
With 11 tracks, the sound and audiovisual projects count on the participation of: Dani Mattos (voice, musical and artistic direction), Tito Longo (vocal, cavaquinho, arrangements and musical direction), Marcelinho Monserrat (7-string guitar), Edu Batata ( vocal and percussion), Koka Pereira (percussion), Adonias Jr. (audio engineering, mixing and mastering), Ronaldo Miranda (video direction and editing), Paschoal Milani Netto (administration), Fabiana Lian (executive production), Maria Ozi (visual identity), Agência O Raio (social media), Brb law Associated lawyers (legal advice), Sorella Produções (administrative advice), Midia Contabilidade (accounting), Buiu (runner), Brazil Camera and Tablet´s House (rental of equipment) and Casa do Roadie (materials).
