Curated by design critic Adélia Borges, the show presents the work of Sara Rosenberg between the worlds of art, design and art education

The Museu da Casa Brasileira, institution managed by Fundação Padre Anchieta, opens on October 14, Friday, from 10 am, the exhibition ‘Esculturas Lúdicas – Sara Rosenberg’.

The new exhibition, designed especially for Children’s Month, offers the public a new way of interacting with the works on display: they can be used as starting points for games instead of being displayed on a pedestal. They are pieces destined to the experimentation of the children’s public in its wide diversity, through the tactile and motor experience. Curated by design critic Adélia Borges.

During Children’s Month, the Solar Garden, the lawn next to Faria Lima Avenue, the internal patio – which opens as a new programming space, replacing the traditional parking function – will be filled with the colorful organic works of Sara Rosenberg for the audience interact. Internal exhibition rooms offer a covered playing area and present the artist’s creative processes and a synthesis of her professional career, highlighting her work as a product designer, in partnership with her sister Anete Ring.

One of the missions of the new MCB exhibition is to give the city’s public – which offers less and less open spaces for coexistence and enjoyment integrated with art – a territory to play. “The installation of the works in the external areas will mark a new stage of integration and institutional reception, registering a new moment for the MCB under the FPA management. Along with the show, which will also feature in the Museum’s rooms, there will be workshops, recreational and musical activities in the courtyard”, says José Roberto Maluf, President of Fundação Padre Anchieta.

For Sara Rosenberg, the exhibition will show the sculptures off the pedestal, bringing them closer to children and parents. “The playful sculptures, due to their open and interactive character, provide aesthetic and imaginative experiences, inviting children to play more creatively, a dive, a springboard of sensations that help to establish a belonging in the here and now”, comments the artist. .

“Constructed of fiberglass, the sculptures are made to be used equally by children with or without special needs. As they are only completed in the movement of bodies over and through them, they are available for – more than touching – free use”, says Adélia Borges.

About Sara Rosenberg
Plastic artist, designer and art educator. Graduated in Fine Arts from FAAP and Master in Communication Sciences from ECA-USP. “The Child and its Playing Space – Portraits of Urban Play” – 1989. Specialization in Sculpture at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich. Between 1994 and 2011, with her sister Anete Ring, she maintained Rosenberg Design, dedicated to the design of objects. The duo participated in several exhibitions in Brazil and abroad.

Critic, historian and design curator. She is the author or co-author of 34 books and hundreds of press releases, published in seven languages. Since 1994 she has organized and/or curated more than 60 exhibitions in Brazil and in Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States. In 2021, she received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) for her contribution to the research and dissemination of Brazilian design.
