Images of cars created in an almost artisanal way parked on an exhibition panel of the 4th edition of the Pioneers of Brazilian design series, which paid homage to Anísio Campos, Brazilian designer and one of the great protagonists of the history of the automobile in Brazil. The series was carried out by the Museu da Casa Brasileira and its opening took place on the occasion of the openings of the 30th MCB Design Award and MCB Collection – new donations exhibitions, in 2016.
Responsible for the creation of more than fifteen cars between 1960 and 2005, Anísio Campos was inspired to design a genuinely national car when he joined the select group of professional drivers who raced during the 1950s and 1960s. of body design, the Carcará (1964/65) and AC Biposto (1968).

The exhibition panel of this edition of Pioneers of Brazilian Design presented images and descriptions of the automobiles designed by Anísio, as well as a brief biography of the designer. In the hall of the Museum, an original model of the 828, produced by Dacon in 1982, was exhibited. At just 2.70 m in length, the car anticipated by decades the trend of compact cars.
Closing the timeline, the panel brought a mockup of his latest project, the 012 car.

With the Pioneers of Brazilian design initiative, which has already honored professionals Fábio Alvim, Luciano Deviá and Fulvio Nanni, the MCB rescues outstanding individual trajectories. “This series recognizes and values the main national designers, especially the pioneers, who are still unknown to the public”, explains Miriam Lerner, general director of the MCB. “Research and dissemination of these iconic figures are essential for the development of design in the country.”

About Anísio Campos
A São Paulo designer of Brazilian cars, Anísio Campos was one of the great protagonists in the history of the automobile in Brazil, responsible for the almost artisanal creation of more than fifteen cars, between 1960 and 2005. By joining the select group of professional drivers who raced in the years 1950 and 1960 by the newly installed automobile factories in Brazil, the dream of designing the genuinely national automobile was born. Thus, he began to design body designs, such as the Carcará (1964/65) and the AC Biposto (1968). In addition to competition cars, Anísio also designed urban cars. They are the Puma GT DKW (1965/66), by Puma; the Escorpion Ergo-Cabine (1985/86) and the Topazzio (1987/88), by Engerauto; 828 (1982), PAG (1984), Nick (1988/89) and Chubby (1989/90), by Dacon. Anísio Campos also designed the first Brazilian buggy, the Tropí (1970), which became known by the name of the exhaust factory that was responsible for producing and marketing it, Kadron, and the prototypes of the high tech 828 compact cars /2 and the mock-up 012 (2005) developed for the company Óbvio!.
Pioneers of Brazilian design
The Museu da Casa Brasileira brings along with the opening of the edition of the Design Award MCB the Pioneers of Brazilian design historical panel, highlighting two points in the Brazilian design timeline: the documentation of the past (albeit recent) and a selection of the present annually for the Museum’s award. The first panel, in 2013, rescued the work of designer Fábio Alvim (1944-1993), the second, in 2014, paid tribute to the architect and designer Luciano Deviá (1943-2014) and the third, in 2015, brought the work of Fulvio Nanni (1952-1995), one of the precursors of author design in the 1980s in Brazil and in 2016, Anísio Campos, was honored.
