The Museu da Casa Brasileira, institution managed by Fundação Padre Anchieta, hosts the exhibition ‘Le Corbusier – A arquitetura moderna declarada Patrimônio da Humanidade’, carried out by the Swiss Embassy in Brazil and the Swiss Consulate General in São Paulo, in collaboration with the Le Corbusier Foundation and UNESCO.
The exhibition, which will be on view at the Museum from July 22 to September 02 october, celebrates the six years since the inscription of 17 works by Le Corbusier in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, presents the work of the Swiss architect considered the founder of modern architecture. .
The fabric panels with prints from the 17 works were specially produced for the exhibition at the Museu da Casa Brasileira, which portrays transversal themes such as: Le Corbusier and Brazilian modern architecture, World Heritage Site in a contemporary perspective, sustainability, innovation and education.
For the Swiss Ambassador to Brazil, Pietro Lazzeri, the exhibition presents the history of one of the most important architects and urban planners of the 20th century, and deals with the importance of modern architecture as a heritage of humanity and the reciprocal influences between the great names of Swiss architecture. and Brazilian to this day. The show becomes even more relevant when it opens at the Museu da Casa Brasileira, a place of reference for Brazilian architecture, housing and design, disciplines that are part of a historic dialogue between Switzerland and Brazil. An excellent opportunity to spread to the general public the principles of modern architecture, so important for the cultural identity of our countries.
“This will be a great opportunity for everyone to get to know the architectural legacy of Le Corbusier, whose technical-artistic experimentation revolutionized architecture in the 20th century”, comments Giancarlo Latorraca, technical director at MCB. For José Roberto Maluf, president of Fundação Padre Anchieta, which manages the Museu da Casa Brasileira, this is yet another successful partnership. “We are happy to present the works of an architect who became one of the most important figures in architecture and a great influencer in the formation of the modernist generation of Brazilian architects”, he concludes.
Among the works consecrated by Unesco, visitors will discover projects by Le Corbusier spread across seven countries in the world, on four continents, such as the Lake Léman waterfront house, in Corseaux/Switzerland; the Casa Guiette, in Antwerp/Belgium; the Frugès Residential Complex, in Pessac/France; the Government Complex in Chandigar/India and the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo/Japan.
With a mobile QR reader and an interactive LED panel, the public will be able to take a virtual 3D tour of the models of two works presented at the show – Casa Orla Lago Léman and Casa Savoye – and also access sites such as UNESCO (United Nations for Education, Science and Culture), from the Le Corbusier Foundation and others, with information that complements the content of the exhibition.
After São Paulo, the exhibition will continue touring other Brazilian cities until 2023.

Who was Le Corbusier:
