The MCB Design Award, the main design award in the country, kicked off the first phase of its 31st edition with the Poster Contest. During the period of the exhibition, popular voting took place, open to the public. Museum visitors were able to choose their favorite poster in a vote made in person. The poster with the most votes was displayed next to the winner, an honorable mention and selected by the judging committee at the 31st MCB Design Award exhibition, held from November 11th, in addition to receiving a one-year subscription to Zupi Magazine, in a partnership made with the institution.
Some of the Exhibited Posters
The Poster Contest Show and the promotion of popular voting aimed to encourage public participation in the debate on the production of graphic design and the revaluation of the poster as a central graphic piece in publicity campaigns. With this, the MCB Design Award reinforced its support for the construction of the national design identity, expanding its interaction with the public and bringing visitors closer to the institution’s vocational themes.
Poster Contest Winner
The winning poster, chosen by the jury, was designed by graphic designer Diego Rodrigues Belo, from AMO Design in Belo Horizonte (MG), who presented a poster in yellow polystyrene sheet, cut out with a special knife and printed in one color serigraphy. The piece inspired the entire visual identity of the 31st MCB Design Award. The author received the gross value of R$3,000 as a prize and had a contract for another R$3,000 to create other graphic pieces for the edition. He also received a one-year subscription to Zupi magazine, a partner of Mostra do Concurso do Poster.
