On November 23, 2019, the Museu da Casa Brasileira, an institution of the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy of the State of São Paulo, simultaneously inaugurated the exhibition of the 33rd MCB Design Award and the Panel Pioneers of Brazilian Design – José Zanine Caldas. On that date, the book celebrating the designer’s centenary ( tambémJosé Zanine Caldas’, Editora Olhares) and the ArqXP magazine, which included the catalog of the award’s exhibition, were also launched.

Representing the 33rd edition of the Award, 91 projects were exhibited in the categories of Products and Written Works. The Product categories brought 64 pieces, 29 of which awarded (1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mentions) and another 35 selected by the jury to be part of the exhibition. In Works Written, 27 works between awarded and selected could be seen, in the Published and Unpublished modalities.

The Poster Contest Exhibition, which publicized the winning piece and other 45 selected works, allowed visitors to choose their favorite poster through popular voting. The result of this choice was released in March 2020.
In 2019, the award received 559 works that were judged by two independent commissions. Levi Girardi, a designer graduated from FAAP-SP and founding partner of the Questtonó design and innovation studio, coordinated the evaluation committee in the product categories. The Written Works were coordinated by Teresa Riccetti, professor and researcher in the design course at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie.

The Museu da Casa Brasileira, an institution of the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy of the State of São Paulo that celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020, is dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of the material culture of the Brazilian house, being the only museum in the country specializing in architecture and design.
