EXHIBITION | 32nd MCB DESIGN AWARD

On Saturday, November 10, 2018, the Museu da Casa Brasileira, opened the exhibition of the 32nd Design MCB Award, held since 1986, with the objective of valuing the performance of design professionals with the country’s industry and encouraging debate about of national production in the segment.
The exhibition had 50 awarded pieces and 70 selected by the judging committee in 2018, together with the exhibition of the Poster Contest that brought the winning piece, in addition to 10 highlights and 90 selected works. Visitors also participated in the popular vote by receiving a ballot to vote for their favorite poster.

The opening of the exhibition, which took on a new format in 2017, exchanging the award ceremony for a fair of publications specializing in architecture and design, takes place as a festival, with the launch of books, educational workshops and food trucks, in addition to the traditional meeting open with the judging committee and the awardees.
In 2018, the Design Award received 663 works, which were judged by two independent commissions. Levi Girardi, a designer graduated from FAAP-SP and founding partner of the Questtonó design and innovation studio, coordinated the evaluation committee in the product categories: Construction, Transport, Electronics, Lighting, Furniture, Textiles and Utensils. And the Written Works category was coordinated by Cibele Haddad Taralli, who holds a master’s and doctorate degree in Architecture and Urbanism from FAU USP and works in teaching and research in the fields of architecture and design.

The Museu da Casa Brasileira, an institution of the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy of the State of São Paulo that celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020, is dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of the material culture of the Brazilian house, being the only museum in the country specializing in architecture and design.
