Bazar da Cidade
The Museum of the Brazilian House (MCB), institution of the State Culture Secretariat, managed by Civil Society through the House of Arts and Artifacts of Brazil, holds the 9th edition of the City Bazaar on August 17 and 18, Saturday, from 10 am to 9 pm, with special cultural programming and free.
The event, which occupies the MCB’s garden and terrace for the first time, will bring together about 100 exhibitors to celebrate diversity. Since its first edition in 2015, Bel Pereira, curator of the Bazaar, is concerned with valuing the contrasts between the participants, whether fashion, jewelry, home and decoration, art and crafts or gastronomy.
“We believe in the diversity that embraces and respects the different,” says Bel Pereira. “Shortening distances and promoting the encounter of cultures, ideas and actions is the purpose of our event,” adds the curator.
“The Brazilian House Museum holds fairs such as the City Bazaar that seek diversification, in order to provide direct contact between the small producer or artisan and the final consumer, in an attempt to guarantee the sustainability of this productive chain,” adds Miriam Lerner, general director of the museum.
There will also be a wide cultural and entertainment program, such as free workshops for adults and children, presentation of mimic and acrobats and kids space. A group of massage therapists will attend during the two days of the City Bazaar in a special tent set up for Thai massage sessions, with sessions of twenty minutes charged separately.
In the gastronomic area, the diversity will be present in more than twenty participating exhibitors, ranging from the Italian and Portuguese Minas Gerais, to the cuisine of Taiwan.

Cultural Programming:
MINIMUM AND DOUBLE ACROBATAS
The Bazar da Cidade will be featuring circus artists animating the event and interacting with the public. The invited artists are:
• Kersons Formis, mimic and clown. He will perform four mime presentations per day, each lasting forty minutes. On Friday (17), from 2 pm to 9 pm, and on Saturday (18), from 11 am to 9 pm.
• Joy Domingos and Jorge Ribeiro, acrobats. They will do incredible acrobatics on the two days of the Bazaar. On Friday (17), at 11:00 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. On Saturday (18), at 12h, 14h, 16h and 18h.

Herbs, Spices and Masalas: Affective pits of aromas and flavors

Encounter watered by aromas, flavors and sensory activities. From the use of the senses will be addressed:

Flatbreads and spices: putting your hand in the dough

Inspired by millenarian flatbreads (chapati, naam, leaf bread, Arabic bread, tortilla), the workshop will prepare quick recipes for breads with spices which can serve as accompaniment or to be tasted alone.

Graphics and Cubism – Manual Stamping with Stamps

About the Bazar da Cidade:
Compact, organized and creative, the Bazar da Cidade had its first edition in August 2015, at Texas Street in Brooklin. Since then, there have been seven other successful editions at Espaço Obra de Arte, in Moema. Joining things full of bossa and people in a sort of bazaar began in the 80’s, when Bel Pereira promoted In Loco 57, in the basement of the legendary Bar Bartolo’s, in the heart of Vila Madalena.

The Museum of Brazilian House, an institution of the São Paulo State Department of Culture, is dedicated to the preservation and diffusion of the material culture of the Brazilian house, being the only museum in the country that specializes in architecture and design.
