TECHNICAL RESE

09.04.2020

MCB Disclosure

The collection of a museum does not consist only of the objects on display. Much of the collection is housed in a place known as the Technical Reserve, an environment with strict climate control and constant hygiene. It is a place with restricted access, where the Conservative, a professional responsible for taking care of the collection, imbued with equipment and clothing suitable for carrying out the work, spends most of the time. Everything to safeguard longevity and guarantee the least possible impact to the objects deposited in it. This area arose from the need to reduce the permanent collections on display. From the beginning of the 20th century, museums became aware of the need to better adapt their spaces for this purpose. Today, we can say that the Technical Reserve is the heart of any museum institution.
