On December 16th, Friday, from 10 am to 10 pm, the Museu da Casa Brasileira, institution managed by Fundação Padre Anchieta, opens the exhibition ‘35º Prêmio Design MCB’. On the date, there will also be the traditional meeting of the judging committee with the winners, starting at 6 pm. The Museum’s new exhibition will feature 74 works from the categories of Products and Written Works.
The Product categories bring 46 pieces, 16 of which were awarded (1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mentions) and another 30 selected by the jury to be part of the exhibition. In Written Works, 28 works can be seen among awarded and selected, in the Published and Unpublished modalities. In addition, in the entrance hall, the winning poster of the 2022 Poster Contest will be available, as well as 9 other graphic pieces that are divided between 2nd and 3rd places and selected for the exhibition.
For Giorgio Giorgi Júnior, coordinator of the Product judging commission, the 35ª edition of Prêmio Design Museu da Casa Brasileira it has the flavor of a comeback, which confirms the unique resilience of our longest-lasting award in multiple fields of design. “As was to be expected, a new beginning permeated by singularities, worthy of recording and reflection”, he comments. As for Myrna Nascimento, coordinator of the Written Works category: “it is essential to celebrate the number of entries that reaffirm the nature of Design as a multidisciplinary field of knowledge”, she adds.
During the opening cocktail that will take place in the central courtyard, the awarded and selected will be able to talk to the judges and understand how the judging process was, in addition to checking out the entire exhibition.
“This year, we celebrated the live return of Prêmio Design MCB, added to the first year of management of the Museum by Fundação Padre Anchieta, a fact that incited new institutional challenges beyond those inherent in the field of design, already frequently mapped by the critical body of judges in the various editions over the years”, says Giancarlo Latorraca, technical director of the Museu da Casa Brasileira.
