BRAZILIAN SHERATON CHAIR (CAVIÚNA) | MCB COLLECTION
Year: 19th century
Acquisition: Donation from Júlia Ferraz
Exhibition: Atlantic Forest Remnants & MCB Collection
This chair has a style adapted from the English Sheraton. It has two thin horizontal tables, a wider table with marquetry in the shape of flowers and a top turned and carved in the form of a smoke roller. The Brazilian style brought simple, slender shapes and the use of wood and straw in cast furniture, which was quickly produced.
