Giraffe Chair (1987) | MCB COLLECTION
With a simple structure and reduced dimensions, the design of the Girafa chair reduces matter and shape to the maximum, valuing them. The designers, when developing several projects in Salvador, were inspired by Alvar Aalto and the furniture for the Paimio sanatorium, built in Finland in the 1930s, for the creation of this chair. Its adaptation to the Bahian soil replaced the plywood by Brazilian solid wood. Girafa soon unfolded on benches, tables, bar stools and embroiderers, based on the countless prototypes created at Marcenaria Baraúna.
