Mercado das Madalenas
The Museu da Casa Brasileira, an institution of the State Culture Secretariat, managed by Civil Society through the House of Arts and Artifacts of Brazil, presents the 21st edition of the Madalenas Market – a Christmas edition, to be held on the 15th and December 16, Saturday and Sunday, from 10 am to 8 pm. Admission is free.
Visitors will find a wide variety of unique handmade products, with more than 80 brands from the most diverse segments, including clothing (women, men and children), decoration, jewelry, accessories and gifts. The Madalenas Market also offers gastronomic options and free workshops for the public.
The idealizers and curators, Inara Corrêa Prudente and Mônica Isnard, affirm that the mission of the event is to promote the creative economy, generating opportunities for the independent producers to present their works, narrowing relations with the consumer. “We always admire the works of authorship, which are unique and different from what is mass produced, and we also had contact with many people in that environment. From then on, we had the idea of developing an event gathering that personal circle in a pleasant environment full of possibilities, “says Monica. “The proposal is to get out of the cliché of shopping malls, so our criterion is quite selective. We want to encourage small entrepreneurs to publicize their work, in addition to bringing people together in a pleasant environment for all tastes and ages, “completes Inara.
“MCB, the country’s only museum dedicated to design and architecture, holds a series of events, such as the Madalenas Market, which value the small producer or artisan, promoting their direct contact with the final consumer, in order to guarantee sustainability of this productive chain, “adds Miriam Lerner, director general of the Museum.

About Mercado das Madalenas
The Madalenas Market emerged in 2012 from the members and friends Monica Isnard and Inara Prudente Corrêa with the proposal to get out of the concept of shopping centers and big businesses, so it has high selection criteria for its exhibitors. The objective is to generate opportunity for those who produce work in an authorial way, so that entrepreneurs can publicize their services. When it was conceived, the main objective was to bring friends together in an environment that was pleasant and at the same time full of possibilities, with the differential of allowing customers to know better who does what is exposed and also the process of creating the products.
