Since May 2016, the Educational area of the Museu da Casa Brasileira, institution of the Secretary of Culture of the State of São Paulo, offers the passers-by of av. Brigadeiro Faria Lima workshops on the sidewalk in front of the Museum, free and spontaneous participation. These activities promote the activation of the public space and create an initial link between public and institution. To celebrate the first year of these actions, the exhibition panel ‘Oficinas na Calçada’ will open, in the MCB’s garden, on March 11, Saturday at 11am.
The panel presents, through images and testimonies, details of the workshops held so far: Drawing your house, The house stamped, Circulating objects, Words and houses, and The house embroidered. Each of the workshops encourages, within its format, the participants to raise questions from their memories and experiences, relating their lives to the main theme of the museum: the Brazilian house.
Participants will be invited to attend the opening of the workshop.
About Educational MCB
The Educational MCB proposes practices that articulate the look, do and think. We want visitors to take the role of researchers searching the contents that the museum offers a contemporary perspective. The idea is to create challenges that raise questions from their own experiences and find new ways to relate the visit to the MCB with their lives. Visits in groups – in general educational and social institutions – can be scheduled in advance. The duration is approximately one hour and a half. Groups over 25 people are splited into two classes. Spontaneous visits can be performed individually or in groups.
