WINDSOR CHAIR | MCB COLLECTION
Year: 19th century
Acquisition: Donation by Manoel Sanches
Exhibition: Atlantic Forest Remnants & MCB Collection
This beech chair has a straw seat and the back is formed by a set of slender rods in the shape of turned balusters. The structure that goes from the back to the feet is slightly arched, and the piece is supported by the turned latches. The use of the vice is also present in the arms. There are no elements that identify it as an imported specimen, which may have been a Brazilian reproduction, but the beech wood is derived from the temperate zones of Europe, Asia and North America.
