Music on MCB | Big Band EMESP


With a repertoire of classics representing Brazilian jazz, arrangements and rhythms, the Big Band EMESP presents itself at the Museum of the Brazilian House, Institution of the Secretary of State Culture, managed by Civil Society through The House Museum of Brazilian Arts and Artifacts, in the October 14, Sunday, at 11am, with free admission.

The group is formed by students from the São Paulo State Music School – Tom Jobim and has the regency of Daniel D’Alcântara, who has accompanied great national artists such as João Donato, Roberto Menescal, Ivan Lins, Leny Andrade, Joyce, Claudete Soares, Filó Machado, Rosa Passos, Milton Nascimento, among others.

At the Museum, the big band will begin the show with Tom Jobim’s ‘Corcovado’, featuring melodies by saxophonist Joe Henderson, instrumentalist Nelson Ayres, trumpeter Neal Heafti and composer Noel Rosa. The purpose of presentations, such as the MCB, is to encourage students to show the knowledge acquired in classrooms in public spaces.

About the Music project at MCB
With continuous editions since 1999, the Music project at MCB has benefited more than 240 thousand people, who had free access to shows from groups such as Pau Brasil, Zimbo Trio, Fine Thing Project, Bachiana Jovem Orchestra, Grupo Aum, Mawaca and Traditional Jazz Band , among others. The presentations, which take place on stage set up on the terrace of the Casa Brasileira Museum between March and December, currently gather around 400 spectators on average every Sunday.
